James (Jim) LaBate is a seasoned investor with over 30 years in the finance and investment fields, including many years at two top investment banks. Experience includes managing a portfolio of Public Equity and debt securities among other asset classes. Jim also has extensive experience in structuring and sponsoring debt financing.
Jim has invested in, sponsored, assisted in management and sold numerous companies funded through private equity and debt investment. Technology, Entertainment, Security, Medical and Agriculture are some of the industries included in the above transactions. He has also consulted, negotiated, and funded numerous real estate projects.
Mr. LaBate has written several articles on financing and asset management, appeared on TV and radio and has been recognized by the South Florida Business Journal.
He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Business Administration and concentration in Accounting. He also attended graduate courses at Geneva College, FAU, and the University of Pittsburgh.
Active in the community, Jim has chaired several fund-raising projects for charities including the Boys and Girls Clubs, Community Foundation of Broward, and Broward College. He is a past Chairman of the Association of Corporate Growth, Broward College Foundation and Broward Community Foundation. He is or is a past Board member of the Broward Center for Performing Arts Foundation, Coral Ridge Yacht Club, Ft. Lauderdale Parks and Recreation, YMCA, Florida House and the Executive’s Association of Fort Lauderdale. In addition, he is a graduate of Leadership Broward.
Mr. LaBate is a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and is married with two daughters.
Mark LaBate is an attorney in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Delaware and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law where he concentrated his studies in taxation. He has spent the past 30 years serving a mostly international clientele in the areas of Immigration Law, International Transactions, Real Estate Transactions and Litigation, and Commercial Litigation.
Mr. LaBate is a member of the Florida State Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and is also eligible to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. His native language is English and he is proficient in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Italian. He resides with his spouse in Pompano Beach, Florida.
